Listen to His Word (God talks to us) 2 Timohty 2:15

  1. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to teach and guide you in the passages of Scripture you are going to read.
  2. Observe the text. Read the immediate context surrounding your verses too. Take mental notes of what is said. Ask, what is the one thing the whole thing is saying? (if you journal, write it down)
  3. Pop-out verse. Read passages again. What one verse grabs your attention.
  4. Application of Scripture. Take that verse and say to yourself, How does this apply to me? What do I need to put off and what do I need to put on? (if you journal, write it down)

Praying His Word (You talk to God) Luke 11:1-4

  1. Adore His holy name, YOU ARE                                     .
    "Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name." Take what you learned in study and praise Him!
  2. Prioritize His will (desire). "Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." His will is 4 things:
    a. He desires everyone to be saved (1 Timothy 2:4)
    b. He desires all who are saved to be holy (1 Thessalonians 4:3)
    c. He desires all who are holy to do good works (1 Peter 2:15)
    d. He desires us to 'give thanks' in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
  3. Trust in His provision. "Give us this day our daily read." God supplies all our needs. Pray for others what you learned and then for yourself.
  4. Embrace His mercy. "Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us." Search and examine your heart. Is there any sin you need to confess? Is there anyone you need to forgive?
  5. Rely on His power. "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." Ask and submit to the Holy Spirit to give you power to say "no" to doing wrong and to say "yes" to doing what is right.
    (Experience transformation!)
