 Shelba
moved to Westminster from Essex, MD with her husband
Dave, and searched for a church to attend. They
began attending Northwest Baptist (Hanover's 'parent'
church). After joining Northwest 15 years ago,
Shelba timidly joined the choir and then was asked
to sing a solo as “special music” for a service.
Being very nervous as she sang, she forgot the
words and swore to never sing alone again.
Well,
God has a way of character building and has used
the last 15 years or so to prepare her for Hanover
Fellowship Worship. A few years ago, Shelba started
leading worship at children’s camps while still
singing in the choir and yes, doing solos and
special music on a regular basis. This was a pivotal
experience for her as the Spirit of the Lord was
so present, there was a confirmation that God
showed her that He wanted to use her in this area
of worship. A few years ago, God impressed upon
her to go back to school and learn the technical
aspects of what it was that came so natural to
her. Today, Shelba attended Carroll Community
College for a music degree and plans to transfer
in the future, possibly in Christian Music Studies.
Shelba has been married for 18 plus years and
has known her husband, Dave, for 25 years, yes
very much childhood sweethearts. They have 3 beautiful
daughters and Shelba just went back to college
in Fall 2004 after being a stay at home mom until
her youngest went to first grade. The family is
very excited to be a part of God’s new work in
Hanover and can’t wait to minister to you.
