Hanover Fellowship Church
Our Core Values are “bridges” that build relationships for reaching and leading people to Christ.
They are our mission of how we fulfill the vision and accomplish the goals in our Vision Statement.
Bridge of Compassion: We desire to love people where they are at without hypocrisy, pretense, or being judgmental. We want to accept them with compassion without compromising the truth. We are striving to be velvet bricks: meek and tender-hearted in approach, yet wise and solid in our convictions.
Bridge of Culture: The culture we rub shoulders with becomes the common ground in which we have our daily contacts. It is our passion to have intentional God-conversations with whomever is in our sphere of influence-whether activities, work, friends, or family- they become potential hearers of truth. (I Cor. 9:19; Matt. 9:35-36)
Bridge of Credibility:Motivated by a love for God, we seek to live authentic lifestyles that match what we say and earn the right to be heard. As we meet needs, we build a bridge of credibility that can support the weight of truth conveyed. The old adage is still true today: “People don’t care how much you know-until they know how much you care.” (John 10:37-38)
Bridge of Courage: Through prayer and a continual dependency on the Holy Spirit, we rely on God to courageously speak the truth of His Word in love. This is done through communicating the gospel and the urgency of everyone needing a relationship with God through Christ. (Eph. 6:19-20; Col. 4:2-4)
Bridge of Conversion: It is our vision to reach people with the gospel (good news of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection) and to lead them to a point of decision. We invite ALL people through faith to respond to the grace that brings salvation. This truth is confirmed in the Scriptures that once a person is born-again, they are welcomed into the family of God.
Bridge of Conforming: God called us to be holy and to be conformed to the image of His Son. Becoming like Christ is a progressive process which begins when we have been made alive by the Holy Spirit. God places the seed of Christ in us as a new nature that can be transformed into His image. We start small, grow slow, build strong, and finish well. (Rom. 8:29; II Cor. 3:18; Rom. 12:2; I John 3:2-3; I John 3:9)
Bridge of Commitment: Serving one another in love is a commitment we make voluntarily. We enjoy ministering grace to the body of Christ by thinking of others and investing our time, talents, and treasures that God has given us into His people. It is on this bridge that we take off the childlike “bib” and put on the adulthood “apron of service”. (Gal. 5:13; I Pet. 4:10-11)
Bridge of Commission: Passion needs a platform. God specifically calls those who are conforming to Christ to be committed to serving in a unique ministry. He can steer a ship that is moving better than one which is stagnant in a port. This is a bridge that unleashes people to experience what God would have them to be. (Acts 13:2-5; Matt. 28:19-20)
